Document Summary

In order to communicate effectively about human geography, you need to speak the language: geographic literacy. Recall: last class we talked about: space, location, place, distribution. Regions: a part of the world that is different/distinct from the rest; a part of the earth"s surface that displays internal homogeneity and is relatively distinct (different or heterogeneous) from surrounding areas according to some criteria/criterion. Criteria: human geographic or physical geographic or a combination of both. Region is a distinct part of the world (of the world"s landscape) Area with hot temp and another with a warmer temp. Area with uniform cultural practices and beliefs etc. Internal homogeneity conditions are largely the same within boundaries. There is a distinct change once you leave the boundary therefore the outside is heterogeneous (diverse): based on some criteria: Some places are hot and others are cold. Inside those boundaries it is internally homogeneous (eg. cold). Outside that area it is heterogeneous (eg. warm)
