Less developed countries predicted to grow by 33% between 2005 and 2050. India is predicted to overtake china as most populous country. Ecological footprint- land/sea required to dispose your waste & provide you with energy/ materials. Measures the human use of the environment in hectares per person. Canada has the third highest ecological footprint. Usa have greater ecological footprint than their capacity b/c of importing resources and exporting their waste. There is only 1. 7 hectares/person in the world (expected to drop to 0. 6 end of century) but 2. 6/2 hectares/ person is used. 20% of the worlds population consumes 75% of the resources. Biocapacity: the amount of biologically productive area available to meet humanity"s needs. World"s biocapacity is exceeded by 25%, expected to increase. Anthropocene: earth"s most recent geological age, viewed as the period during which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment: humanity drives the most biophysical changes, earth"s resilience is reducing.
