Catherine imagines herself as a heroine in a gothic romance (dream sequences) Tells us from the start she is an avid reader and she takes in what she reads, becomes part of her real life. Dream sequence- henry is rescuing her and john thorpe is bothering her. Cathe(cid:396)i(cid:374)e"s se(cid:454)ualit(cid:455) is d(cid:396)a(cid:373)atized i(cid:374) the d(cid:396)ea(cid:373) se(cid:395)ue(cid:374)(cid:272)e- falling in love with. Henry is being described in the dream in a way that is not in the book. Instant intimacy between isabella and catherine, as soon as they were introduced- film narration does not have the time the text does. Film must do things quickly and abruptly to get the plot going- another reason for the dream sequences. Not in these instances, must get the story moving. Isabella- very similar to book, difference between what she says she is and who she really is, is shown from the start (craves attention, etc)
