Document Summary

My interpretation is an opinion and therefore valid in its own right. There must be a continuity of thought in the picture or scene of a poem: the poem arsehole: Isn"t there better poetry in the english language? a: shift from third person empiricism to rst person intimacy. What we"ve been up to so far : poems have stuff in them that can be noticed, poems don"t have de nite meanings any more than experiences do. A poem is an experience and that is why they are meaningful. Experience is precious and therefore can be treasured: poems occur over time, its reading is a process of engagement at a variety of levels, the rst of which is allowing the poem to happen to you. It engages feeling more than thinking, analysis comes after the experience not during: learning to trust our experience within poetry allows us to grow accustomed to letting analysis fade and experience take the forefront.
