Each has the same number of sectors. Sectors hold the same number of bytes. A cluster is a group of sectors that get associated with a file. A file does not have to have consecutive sectors to store itself. One file can be all over your disk. Logically we can break up the disk into drives. If your hard drive seems to be slowing down what may be happening is the drive is. Fragmented is where a file have many split up sectors. There are de-fragmentation programs that can run to help fix this issue. File sizes have two sizes: the real size and the size it is stored on the disk. Notation: root is / (forward slash) on mac and \ (back slash) on windows. File management basically involves manipulation of the file. Some o/s have a limit of files of directories. Think of it as index similar to a book.
