Programs will format the data in a certain way for storage. Some programs can store data into more than one format. Text file - a file whose contents is characters from the keyboard. Normally these characters use the ascii coding system , with no special formatting ( e. g bolding, underlining) Markup languages (e. g html , xml) ml stands for markup language. Files created by notepad would be in this category. Hot keys - shortcut keys, keystrokes that execute a task (e. g ctrl c would copy) Ocr - optical character recognition (scanners that recognize characters, but as a tip, you should still proofread the document, e. g 0 and o) Ccd and cmos are in cameras to store images. Device drivers are needed to convert real world things into computer data. Include keyboard, mouse, digital cameras, webcams, scanners, microphones. Keyboard - main device for entering alphanumeric values.
