What is traditional leadership: the influence that particular individuals exert on the goal achievement of others in an organizational context. Goes directly to how do i lead others. Contemporary definitions want to know who they are first. Cant lead others unless they know how to lead themselves. The art of mobilizing others to want to struggle for shared aspirations (kouzes & posner) any movement is a struggle but you move together. Expected to be a leader (no guarantee though) given authority to direct people ( all because of title) Or you really like them- refrent power. Transactional vs. transformational: transactional ( a transaction- an exchange) If you do this, ill give you this. Or if you"re a boss you can just say, i want it end of day. Get people to move at hire levels. Get them to think outside of the box. Arouse intense feelings: at the end of the day, they workers love this.
