Sexuality guidelines: you can have sex right up to then end of pregnancy unless it is considered a high-risk pregnancy, generally: in terms of sexual behaviours, ist trimester- decrease, 2nd trimester- increase, 3rd trimester- decrease. Sexuality guidelines: obstetricians typically advise a 6 week waiting period for safety and comfort. Factors: physical changes- i. e. body image issues, psychological changes- i. e. hormone changes, sleep deprivation, breast-feeding, etc. Breastfeeding & sexuality: breastfeeding- more likely versus bottle fed babies to experience, decrease in sexual desire (decrease in androgens, decrease in frequency of intercourse and painful intercourse (decrease in vaginal lubrication) Reproductive technologies: can place strain on a relationship in terms of blame and has a huge financial implication. Prevalence: 15% of couples in north america have problems with fertility, about 50% succeed in conceiving.
