But in fact, research on audiences consumption of media violence and crime is ambiguous about its effects: consequences can be quite ambiguous, this is one of the most heavily researched issue in media studies. No one knows and no one can answer the question de nitively. Cultivation analysis advances some commonplace claims about effect of consumption of media violence even though research suggests the effect of such consumption are not obvious or straight forward, and in fact, are very contradictory.
