Meaning to people for or against the culture. Today"s three themes: reading style as performance - changing approaches in academia, reading style as performance - semiotics, phenomenology, sociology, read your style: self conscious scholarship. Dependent upon the individual, the object, the situation, the audience. Stylistic themes (such as in punk music) are expressive of genuine aggression toward society. The way we speak, act, what we wear. Communicate who we are and what groups we are apart of by first impression. Read or research into it instead of seeing it and ignoring it. Further understanding of the crisis itself, what they are responding to, what can be done. Objects or things made to mean more than what it is. Assumptions made, symbolizing an individual based on what they wear, carry around, or own. Tensions between dominant and subordinate groups found in ideas of subculture vs mainstream society.
