Odysseus covers himself with branch and approaches cautiously. Young girl is same age as his son. He compares her to the goddess artemis. Because she"s the tallest and she stands out. Significance is two fold, he is ultra respectful to this young girl he"s also marking himself as not marking himself sexually (non threatening) Often teaching moments for young women (because she shouldn"t wander off by herself) Her companions run away because that is a good response regularly. She doesn"t want to give people the wrong impression. Odysseus"s speech - clever, husband and wife living together with one heart and mind, a more typical view of marriage, odysseus and penelope. Suitors are not smart enough for odysseus" wife helen.
