When you pass these populaions through muliple generaions you eventually see exincion of one of the alleles. Genotype of the individual has no impact on reproducive success. Through more generaions all of the populaion will be ixed. Geneic drit is a great concern to conservaion biologist because the small populaions found on nature reserves or in zoos are especially suscepible to it. Because geneic variaion is lost rapidly in small populaions, this potenially reduces a species ability to respond to environmental changes in the future. Polymorphisms is lost meaning smaller toolkit contribuing to species exincion. Javan rhino and loss of geneic diversity due to drit. Originally widespread in se asia with 3 subspecies. The vietnamese javan rhino had 12 individuals in 2006 but the last survivor was shot by a poacher in 2010. Now only populaion is in ujung kulon np; probably 40 individuals.
