Document Summary

Location of prey: even if something is nutritious, if may be in a location where the predator is put at risk if they"re trying to eat it. Food choices: food preference is defined relative to availability, ie. if you lived in a place with only fast food, it"s not that you choose to eat fast food, you have no choice but to eat what"s available. If you do have food abundance, what do you choose to eat: animals may move into environments with their preferred food, on short term, organisms eat what is in their environment. If a forager wants to optimize its ability to survive, the further away they go to look for prey, the more they need to bring back, ie. bee-eaters go further for richer resources. Ideal free distribution: there"s high quality and low quality resource patches.
