How recombination increases the efficacy of natural selection. Sexual selection: honest advertising, male-male competition, resource contribution / nuptial gift, sensory exploitation / sensory bias. Because eggs are generally more energetic than sperm, females are predicted to be more choosy than males. Thus, sexual selection should be stronger on males because they must compete for females. Alleles that increase attractiveness of males to females are expected to increase in frequency. Female choice: females may choose mates on the basis of: physical characteristics that signal male genetic quality ( honesty advertising , resources or parental care provided by males ( nuptial gifts ) All primates except humans have a baculum a bone in the penis. It has been proposed that this bone may have been lost in humans in response to sexual selection for honest advertisement . Erectile dysfunction can be a consequence of poor health, stress, or mental illness. Gifting a gift or a bribe to increase chance of producing offspring.
