Recent hominin evolution: homo florensis and homo neanderthalensis. Where did we come from: multiregional versus out of africa hypotehses. Gene flow between amh and other hominins. Recent out of africa hypotheses vs multiregional hypotheses. There were multiple interpretations of recent evolution but all of them were wrong: the out of africa / complete replacement hypothesis: Graph: time on y axis, space on x axis, divided by 3 different regions, approx. 1. 8 mya homo erectus emerged: homo sapiens replacing these populations (without gene flow) Proposes that modern humans dispersed out of africa and replaced populations of homo erectus and neanderthals without interbreeding. Proposes that evolution of modern humans has been occurring since earlyhumans (homo erectus) left africa 2 mya. Homo erectus and ergaster are the same species. Continuous exchange of genes among populations in different regions united this species as it evolved into modern humans.
