Document Summary

In situ studies: in situ studies of gene expression, we can look at a developing embryo, in order for it to develop we know that all the cells have to specialize. So we can look and see where these genes are being transcribed, we are binding a uorescent tag to something we want to look for in the cells: you make a complementary probe (to bind to mrna). Adults have a-globin and b-globin: in fetuses the b-globins (like adults) are not present instead they have y-globins. Yellow - genes are equally expressed in normal and abnormal (doesn"t mean it is not involved in cancer - still can be some modi cation that leads to a mutation ) Histone modi cation: dna compacting regulates gene expression, nucleosome remodelling and accessing dna, remodelling protein attaching allowing other proteins to come round and bind on, histone modi cation alter dna winding.
