Document Summary

While every human cell in our body carries the same genome across 23 chromosome pairs, there are a great deal of variations that can be found in our genome. Evolution has largely led to alternate alleles or variations of specific genes. While there are 2 alleles of a gene per person, there can be many alleles or different haplotypes n a population. This has led to genetic variation across individuals & populations. But while small variations in dna sequence can lead to genetic variation it is the expression of those genes w in the genome that produces cell type specific proteomes that are important for vital cellular processes. W in multicellular organisms, the cellular proteomes are driven by different transcriptional programs that are able to direct different ells to engage in specific functions in association w other cells or even w in tissues.
