Speed of javelin is larger relative to the ground. It has more speed than it would have if they threw it standing still. About 100 years ago (1905) he published the special theory of relativity. It starts with the simple idea that the speed of light is the same for all observers. A person in a rocketship (a) is traveling 1 million m/s to the right. A person in a rocketship (b) is travelling 1 million m/s to the left. Both spaceships see the other approaching at 2 million m/s. A guy is on the earth and is not moving relative to a light ray. A rocketship is moving 1 million m/s towards the light ray. The speed of light is the same for all observers. You don"t add the velocities like you would for classical relativity. The speed of light remains at 300,000,000 m/s. Nothing goes faster than the speed of light.
