Why is there life on earth? Currently looking for evidence of past or present life. Mars-like places on earth (mars simulation lab) Liquid water possibly exists beneath the moon"s icy surface. Water could be warmed by volcanic events on the ocean floor. Interesting theory given that we know of many (cid:1)extremophiles(cid:2) that live near earth(cid:2)s volcanic vents. Been described as having conditions similar to those of early earth. Has liquid lakes on its surface (probably composed of ethane/methane) May also have water beneath the surface. The mission of the seti institute is to (cid:3)explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe(cid:4) Phoenix project: the project searches for radio signals from extraterrestrials (inspiration for (cid:1)contact(cid:2))
