Who is an expert witness: specialist in a subject & accepted by a judge (gatekeeper, education, training, certification, experience. E. g. forensic anthropologist, botanist, psychologist, entomologist: presents their opinion without having been a witness to any occurance related to the lawsuit/criminal case, expert opinion, exception to the rule against giving an opinion in a trial. Forensic anthropology expert witness: may be asked to demonstrate/prove why they should be considered an expert, qualifications. What to do, avoid, & be aware of when testifying: do, acknowledge limitations. When something is beyond your expertise: avoid, jargon, speculation, ungrounded or biased opinion, be aware of, possibilities. Only state when its something you can back up.
