Search indicators: abnormalities used to detect a burial site. Treat as a crime/recovery scene until proven otherwise. Knowing the type of scene can help predict: Sometimes in the same location as they were deposited. Intentionally vs. naturally (generally) not visible from the surface. Specialized search techniques and technologies can be necessary. Floating on the surface, resting on the bottom, suspended in between. Usually surface, but may be buried or submerged. Collect, preserve, inventory, package, transport, and submit evidence. Collect things most easily accessible first -- things on the surface. Put things in a paper bag b/c they are breathable and are less likely than plastic bag evidence. Completing and recording the investigation (police and consultants) Debriefing: share information with each other prior to releasing the scene.
