Aspects of meaning: components of cultural knowledge: ex: gender norm that is normal, social norms they are those standards, ex: a women"s butt or breast (cid:523)which is socially considered desirable(cid:524) Norms standards of propriety and appropriateness. Symbols objects and behaviors with conventional meanings. Constructions divisions of reality into categories classifications. Cultural meaning are expressed in and through our relations with others creates social relations. Institutionalized relations like marriage: status of the participants, and often-carried implications about sexual access, gives offspring a position in society, and established connections between husband and wife and next of kin. Objectified relations (often as roles): wife, sister, teacher, student, friend and poor (a relations that can only exist with rich, relationships are ordered into classifications and categories, they are established and maintain by practiced, often policing practices. They are created voluntary created and some are involuntary (you being born)
