We traditionally perceive there to be two genders: male and female. Binary: relating to, composed of, or involving two things (familiar but simplified/flawed dualities) Spectrum/spectra: used to classify something, or suggest that it can be classified, in terms of its position on a scale between two extreme or opposite points .
