Document Summary

Soci 265 war, state, and social change. This is a theory that are like the scales of justice. The balance of power is an awful theory can"t we do better than this (may be imbalanced and results in war) Realism is a moral, it requires in the power of balance that you ally yourself with repulsive regimes to maintain this balance. Ex: churchill did not want to ally with stalin because he was communist i would have dinner with the dinner to balance the nazis. Michael doyle opening claim: no two liberal democracies have ever fought against each other. It seems as though liberalism brings you peace. He is well aware that liberal regimes are perfectly capable of fighting in a vicious way against non- liberal regimes. Liberal regimes are not necessarily nice to people they don"t like. This isn"t true because it depends how you define democracy.
