Over the next few decades the rural populaion will peak and then decline and then the urban populaion will overtake the rural populaion in terms of numbers. Income sources: from their own on-farm producion, from employment (agriculture or non-agricultural, from transfers (remitances and social transfers. Mulidimensionality of poverty: historical, social and poliical relaions among classes and castes, ethnic groups, etc, interlocking disadvantages: mutually reinforcing oppressions and diiculies. Children and youth make up a huge percentage of the populaion in developing states and poverty rates amongst children and youth are extremely high. It"s diicult to break the cycle of poverty once you"re in it. Poverty rates amongst indigenous peoples are very high. Resilience to shocks: determined by levels and combinaions of assets, human capital, social networks and insituions on which people can rely to face shocks and risks. Limited or lack of resilience is an important aspect of the mulidimensionality of poverty.
