These relations have some type of rank and hierarchy. Stratification: term used to refer to the hierarchical organization of social relations. One group has greater power, influence, resources, prestige than another. Inequality: related to stratification, as stratification is a collective form of inequality. That said, there is much variation in stratification both degree and type. Top 1% of canadian earners made 11. 2 % of total canadian income in 2015. Top 1% of americans earners make around 22% of total us income. There was increase in inequality in the states starting the 80s. Starting with reagan and continuing under bill clinton. There was actually a gradual decline after the war.
