Recall that most people think it is 50/50 with talent and efort and e says no, it"s like 98% efort and training (not about talent and ability) Sports psychology & canada at the winter olympics. Would think that canadians naturally excel at winter because we have so much winter. But historically, we haven"t really been a factor at the winter olympics. Incremental jump from 1988 etc. the last two olympics weren"t just incremental- canada placed. 3rd in all of the world and now perceived as a powerhouse and will likely place similarly in the next olympics. In 2003/2004 canada realized that they were going to host the van olympics. Like most governments, didn"t want to be embarrassed and created a commission to allow for proper training and resources for athletes to do well. One of the things they changed that made a diference was the inclusion of sports psychologists.
