The number one goal of parents, teachers, etc is to maintain the intrinsic motivation of children. Rewards are our #1 motivator when we work with children can be damaging to intrinsic motivation depending on how it"s administered. We can undermine intrinsic motivation by motivating them with reward, praise or competition. Encouraging cooperation, personalizing learning or providing a rationale, and supporting autonomy this helps to nurture and maintain intrinsic motivation. Along with intrinsic motivation, internalization is the second most important motivational process when working with children. Main girl falls in love with a non greek man, despite her family being very traditional and wanting her to marry a greek man tries to hide it, eventually tries to get her parents to reconcile. Became a big hit because many could identify with the challenge of coming from a different heritage or culture from the majority population of the country you live in.
