Diathesis: vulnerability (can be biological or not) Stress: a challenge that calls on resources. The interaction between the two increases possibility of disorder. There are people who experience both but do not go on to develop a disorder. Start with what you know, go to the literature. Use what you already know to generate a response to your research question. Figure out how you are going to measure what is of interest to you and then how to collect the results. Depression is associated with poorer social skills. Depression increased interpersonal aggression increased victimization. Depression decreased assertiveness increased victimization. Findings change ( which study should i believe? ) Different parenting styles effective depending upon the type of neighborhood. Depends on the environment, authoritarian parenting is typically bad but good if living in the ghetto. Could be true but does not invalidate the body of research. But sleeping on their back reduces the likelihood of sids.
