40 views5 pages

Document Summary

Personal unconscious - forgotten conscious experiences, weak sensory impressions, repressed memories/desires. part of the attitudes (other part in conscious), such as intuiting. the complexes (power complex, inferiority complex, mother complex, god complex etc). Balance-imbalance between opposing elements (jung on the extreme predominance of an element: like freud) The shadow: if not balanced by the persona, it makes us wild and antisocial. The persona: if not balanced, it makes our behaviour pretend and disingenuous. Animus: negative in female makes her a constant warrior: irritable, argumentative and hostile. negative anima in male makes him emotionally dependent, unstable, narcissistic, moody, catty and bitchy. Atrists have a sensitivity to the collective unconscious (which operates by symbols in arts, in dreams and in intuitions) Theoretically, it"s just a collection of intuitive wisdom. Jung saw it as an element of the cosmic spirit (like socrates) It inspires artists, produces dreams (jungian method of amplication) and transmits important messages, operating beyond space/time rules (phenomenon of synchtonicity)
