Biological response follows emotional response dynamic and reciprocal. 1) lasting memory of stressful situation (stress favors memory formation) 2) suppression of cognitive processes unrelated to stressor (favors memories only for the stressor) Expose someone to stressful situation, then learn something or vise versa and measure retrieval performance (chart a) when stressor is close to encoding (during learning), stressful stimuli facilitate learning (taken care of by membrane glucocorticoid receptors non genomic) ^^when stressor is closer to consolidation, stressful stimuli suppress unrelated information (carried by nuclear receptors genomic glucocorticoid receptors) ^^ about how close you are to encoding vs. consolidation spectrum.
