Carl jung hypothesized people fall into categories of personality but realizes that each individual is an exception to the rule. Creators of the test had no formal training in psychology created a type indicator. Scale not valid and reliable, results are not consistent. Forer effect - persuade people that they have accurate answers about the personality. Big five system - new reliable test for personality. Pretty good agreement between your answers and someone else"s answer about you. Extroverted items: talkative, full of energy, outgoing and sociable. Introverted items: reserved, tends to be quiet, sometimes shy and inhibited. Half scale measures one end half measures the other end. Enjoys skating, wants to be like big sister, seasoned professional, quiet at first, outgoing and surprisingly loud when get to know her, smiling, laughing, making jokes, drive and confidence, happy go lucky, focused and ready to work hard. More extroverted end even when quiet at first.
