The crisis in social psychology you have to have a well-judged, strong discipline in order to have a crisis. !1 intergroup con icts going on, there isn"t a lot of social psychology research us has three major issues: economy, war, and black vs white (hence why data doesn"t back this rst theory up) Pa had some huge insights for psychology in general. It has stood the test of time. It was criticized for not being a scienti c theory because it investigated the unmeasurable, untestable unconscious & a good theory must be testable. Cognitive revolution of the 1960s: the idea behind it was that technology could illuminate unconscious and subconscious processes (ex. measuring underlying prejudice with an implicit association test) He assumes that human beings are irrational psychoanalytic theory is rooted in this belief - so interpersonal and intergroup con icts will begin because of an irrational cause.
