The human genome has <30,000 genes and a number of measurable traits. Each gene then must do more than one thing. Example 1: people with high iqs tend to be nearsighted. This is not because they read a lot. Rather, the same gene(s) that tend to elevate iq also tend to affect the shape of the eyeball. This is likely to be completely accidental, a quirk of evolutions. Example 2: the mcir gene has known roles in: (redheads produce non-functional mcir; mutants) Hair colour (accounts for 75-80% of redheads) Gas anesthesia (redheads are harder to put down) Example 3: the abcc11 gene has known roles in: On one of his characters, caliban: his nature is so evil that there is nothing that can be done that could change him. Francis galton: the first person to study the issue and take a position. His position: nature prevails enormously over nurture . Skinner (1990s): opposite position; nurture over nature.
