Parts of the self derived from social relationships. Our interpretation of ourselves within the context of our social worlds. Some processes occur outside of our conscious awareness. Not feeling a way but our actions say otherwise. Close others also reported how the participants generally behave. Participants spent four days with a electronically activated recorder. Records brief snippets at random times in the day. The self and close others were equally accurate. But others may also be able to teach us about ourselves. We may actually be aware of others" knowledge about us. Well-being higher when self-perceptions are more in line with others. Can be high, or, low, or anywhere in between on a given trait. Must be a core feature of your personality. Subset of self-knowledge brought to mind in particular context. When their traits were unique or different compared to their classmates, they were more likely to mention that when describing their self-definition.
