Mood was effected by what he was reading, and by the emotion or the mood of the person he was reading about. This is an idea that social psychologists have studied on and off, it is one of the ways in which social life, other people around us influence us- is by catching other peoples moods. Emotional contagion- like a virus or a cold- you pick it up from other people. When you are exposed to another person- you converge together into a emotional state- catching each-others feelings- emotional contagion . A social psychologists wants to say is this true, does this actually happen and if it does, how does it happen. What are the processes by which someone else"s mood influences our own mood.
