Document Summary

Bilinguals are any individuals who handle two languages. Bilingualism can actually be seen as a continuum. Some people can be more bilingual than others. E. g. , fluent in two languages vs. fluent in one language and okay in the other. Bilingual: any individual who uses 2 languages is a bilingual to some degree. Bilingualism: the ability to communicate in any two languages. Most people in the world speak more than one language. Until recently, this has been largely ignored in studies on language and cognition. Judith kroll: one of the first people to study the cognitive processes that underlie bilingualism. There are some difficulties, but overall it is not too difficult for children to learn two languages at once. Some people may switch back and forth between french and english. People may think that this is bad, but it is not necessarily true that code switching is bad practice.
