We talked about the structure and connectivity of the visual system from the retina to the cortex. The midget amd parasol cells and how they input into the parvocellular and magnocellular pathway in the lgn. The lateral geniculate nucleus of the thalamus-lgn- how it keeps information separated into 6 layers- 4 of them to the parvo pathway and 2 to the magno pathway- how that info. Gets forwarded to the primary visual cortex. - we described the hemi-field and eye separation- two diff. concepts. Retinotopy- the fact that the primary visual cortex has a map of the retina, meaning that adjacent points on the primary visual cortex, represent adjacent points on the retina- or visual inputs on the retina. But that that retinatopic map is not linear, meaning that there is far more v1 tissue dedicated to processing the foveal region of your retina. There are far more neurons in v1 dedicated to extracting as much info.
