Gate control theory of pain- explains behaviour we exhibit when we experience pain and how we can control pain if we have too. Sexual stimulation and orgasm production- how little we understand about it. Enteric sensation: sensation in your gut- if you are full or gassy, affects your social life. Nociception: detection of painful stimuli- come in a variety, sometimes over stimulate something if you slam your foot. Strong mechanical pressure causing pain or situations where you cut yourself- signals carried by diff. mechanisms. Sharp pain- milonated a delta fibers- transmit signals from the periphery to the cns to say you hurt yourself. Slower c-fiber signals- tend to be sensitive to many more things like chemical irritants, including the blood itself- blood starts pissing off these receptors, causing them to be active. Nociception is the detection of the stimuli and pain is feeling it, quality of the pain differs on which fiber is activated.
