Helps solve novel problems, do not correlate with evoluionary familiar situaions such as friends and social competence. Factor analysis: staisical procedure that ideniies clusters of related items and factors on a test, idenify diferent dimensions of performance that underlie a person"s total score. High verbal intelligence = high spaial and reasoning ability (g) = common skill set. Savant syndrome: condiion in which a person, otherwise limited in mental ability, has an excepional speciic skill, eg. computaion and drawing.
