Document Summary
Psychological science is the evidence-based use of information to understand human behavior. Thought processes, perception, memory, how we relate to one another, how we relate with people of other groups, all these kind of things, but generally we"re using some form of scientific method, not just introspection. There was a period in our field when introspection was considered a valid method of scientific inquiry, not concerning whether these thoughts are verifiable, whether they"re objective, whether they apply to others. If i only ask one person, that"s not science. One of the greatest discoveries of our time: the very form of the molecule, the double helix that came to one of the scientists in a dream. However, the point is it didn"t end there. He then has to collect information to test the idea. So the idea is that we"re collecting information and evidence: not all of our intuitions about the way that the things are correct.
