If it was industrial level processing, we would probably use gamma radiation: no heat involved, no pressure, no chemicals, nothing to denature the proteins, can decontaminate through packaging. What would you do to milk: you could filter it on a small scale, on an industrial level, pasteurization, no need for full sterilisation of milk but we want to get rid of e. coli and listeria. What about the surgical instruments: autoclaving (chemical) What about the tissue: we cannot really sterilise skin but we can disinfect, do this using chemicals halogens (betadine, iodine, we will also want to administer abx for the tissues underneath the skin. Failure can be due to: suboptimal method of control we hope that if industrial process, this would not happen, can occur when you"re dealing with food. They are multicellular communities with cells aggregated within an extracellular matrix and adherent to a surface. These bacteria are not loners they enjoy living together in a community.
