Ethical truths depend on the groups holding them. Behave in a way we don"t consider ethical but they do. There are universal standards of behavior that all cultures should follow. Eg: un declaration of human rights in 1948. Decisions are based on the consequences of the action. An action is right if it produces the greatest amount of good for the greatest number. Moral judgments are made and moral reasoning occurs independently of consequences. Focus on actions rather than the consequences. Act only according to that maxim by which you would. Assume hypothetical original position , in which everyone decides principles of justice from behind a veil of ignorance , not knowing attributes of people. Assumes if individual ignorant of how she will end up in a conceived society, she is likely not going to privilege any one class of people, but rather develop a scheme of justice that treats all fairly.
