Needs to b struggle in order to lay out path to coexistence. Creative/nonviolent conflict will b essential part of decolonization, but it will b productive. Ppl must think critically abt how they themselves r colonized. Helping w/in colonial forms/in a paternalistic way. By helping in colonialist ways, non-indg ppl r forcing indg ppls to fit into colonial. Need to acknowledge when non-indg ppl hav a role to play and when they dont. Need to acknowledge that just bc there wasn"t armed conflict in can, doesn"t mean relations weren"t violent. Meanwhile violent behavior of indg ppls is put in the spotlight, called an indian problem . Must accept that decolonization will b uncomfortable, destabilizing. Takes the complexity out of indg ppls, encourages indg ppls to come to colonizer"s table, not other way around. Can"t speak for community/decide what is best for ppl. B aware of conflict w/in communities/that that is good, don"t appropriate the voice(s) that u agree w.
