Wampum found in anishinaabeg terr, also along coasts in ns, rivers in. Less prevalent the further west u go. Later treaties w/ followed in pattern of indg-indg treaties. Wampum belt tells how nations came together. Treaty formed during time of war w/ help of figure known as peacemaker . Spoke thru woman, hiawatha, who spreads message of peace to clanmothers w/ Initial meeting, and all further meetings, take place in longhouse, each nation sits idea of uniting in specific place.
