End of ww1: germany was torn to bits. Before - poland was part of russia/prussia and aust-hung. Many parts that were part of germany for 100s of ys were slapped together to make a polish state: the peacemakers did the slapping. And they wrote w/ their advisors: the fr wanted more territory than the br and us thought was a good idea. But the larger part of the crimean war was happening overseas in the. Baltic, the arctic sea and the pacific. (that"s where russia and br were fighting, in india: but as for europe, it had practically no effect on the balance. Italian war of unification: had the potential to become a great european war but didn"t, war b/w, franco-prussian war, great eastern crisis, 1875-78. Involved turkey and russia, ended in the congress of berlin, 1878, bismarck presided. (benjamin disraeli was the br pm at the time): => balance from these disturbances till 1914.
