Lecture 17 - operation michael and the final battles in. Some of the most iconic and famous events of wwi. They are also the most debated as well in terms of the significance to the outcome of the war. The germans could have won the war but it got snatched out of their hands at the last minute. The offensive never truly had a chance to let germany win the war. Russia was taken out of the war last year, and the generals envision a new german center in the land that they were able to take over. Germany"s enemy romania is in the process of collapsing because of the collapse of their principle ally, russia. They took soldiers away from their front. Germany only has one front to deal with. Says they"ve been doing the same thing, trying to bombard the enemy to destroy the defensive. Instead they will launch an aggressive offensive to stun the enemy.
