Heterosexual relations were accepted, and only in marriage for having children. Marriage debt: partners should be respond positively to the other"s desired. Men sometimes didn"t marry like journeymen, who finished their apprenticeship and couldn"t set themselves up as masters. Churchmen condemned adultery more seriously because it affected families. Worst sins were against god and nature, and sodomy. Anything which was not reproductive sex was labelled sodomy. People didn"t understand and accept same sex love and same sex relations. Sodomy was perhaps less horrible when done with woman because it could be seen as a birth control practice. Incest - fathers occasionally had relations with daughters. Fornication was not really seen as a sin by laypeople. Rank and wealth tended to be a factor mitigating sexual crime. Kings and princes could get away with almost anything. Men were given a fine or imprisonment if they committed the crime. Or they were able to marry the girl.
