Beauty was always appreciated, but what was stressed was the beauty of god and beauty of nature produced by god (during the. Women"s beauty was admired but often suspect because it would lead to sin. Advice manuals often told men not to pick a beautiful women because they would just get into trouble. The influence of antiquity led renaissance artists to forms of secular art. Most art continued to be religious art - mother and child, the angels. Artists and patrons were interested in mythological scenes. Historical scenes as well, like on the marriage chests for example. See the interest in classical art and interest in the human being and to reproduce (memorial) of a human being.
