Women are often erased from the historical record by historians who believed women did not have a political role and therefore could not have been there. They expressed their views through revolts (ie. peasant revolt - in leadership capacities) English civil war affected everyone and consequently women became involved in the political issues of the day and become visible in that sense. 1642 the war between charles i and parliament. 1660 restoration of charles ii and the monarchy. Charles i was accused of parliament of trying to be an absolute ruler. Charles and parliament found themselves in a war where the parliamentarians won. Charles i was tried and beheaded in 1649 by a small group of radicals. New republic in england with just a house of commons and not lords. During this period radical groups emerged and many women were part of these radical groups.
